- The “Edit” and “Open in Windows” functions no longer work AS WebDAV has been deprecated by Microsoft.
Edit and Open in Windows rely on the WebClient (WebDAV) Service that was only supported in Internet Explorer mode with Office 365 and that has been deprecated by Microsoft in Windows 10/11 (see Deprecated features in the Windows client | Microsoft Learn). As a consequence of the deprecation and increased security controls, Microsoft now blocks document access. In addition, a message about denied access is shown when opening or adding documents.

- Emails encrypted with S/MIME cannot be opened using the new Microsoft Outlook client.
It is not possible to view emails sent from Brainloop Secure Dataroom that are encrypted with S/MIME in the new Microsoft Outlook client. As a workaround, open encrypted emails using the old Microsoft Outlook client.

Reference 150845 (#236439) - Already approved devices with Brainloop Secure Client apps may need to be re-approved.
If a Dataroom Center uses a device management configuration where the option Deny new device access for all trusted applications is activated, then the already approved devices need to be re-approved manually. To do this, click on a device in the list, and change the Rule setting to Allow.
Dataroom Center Administration > Security > Device Management (> Edit > Deny new device access for all trusted applications)
Background: For security reasons, we introduced a cryptographic key length of 4096 bits for Brainloop Secure Client 1.25 in combination with Brainloop Secure Dataroom 8.46.000. This change leads to new device IDs for devices using Brainloop Secure Client. The setting Deny new device access for all trusted applications blocks these new device IDs from automatically connecting to Brainloop Secure Dataroom.

- Full-text search doesn't find some words in tables in PDF documents.
Due to issues in a third-party component, some words in tables in PDF documents are not properly indexed and therefore cannot be found. As a possible workaround, users may try to include the search word in asterisks. Examples: *Auckland*; *New* AND *Zealand*

Brainloop Secure Dataroom 8.41.000
- Resolved: Activating or deactivating SAML for a user
As a result of the API improvements in Brainloop Secure Dataroom 8.41.000, activating or deactivating SAML as authentication method for a user terminates ongoing sessions on API clients, such as Brainloop Secure Client. The API then sends a request to the API client to re-authenticate, and the user has to log in again.
However, such re-authentication requests cannot be handled by Brainloop Secure Client 1.10 and older versions. This functionality is prioritized and will be implemented in an upcoming version of Secure Client. Until this version is available, users and application administrators are advised not to change the login method from username and password to SAML or from SAML to username and password if the user works with Brainloop Secure Client. Should such changes have been made accidentally, reverting to the original authentication method will resolve potential issues.

- Uploading and using URL shortcut files
As of Brainloop Secure Dataroom 8.41.000, it is possible to upload URL shortcut files to a Dataroom via WebDAV or via the web interface.
However, Brainloop Secure Client does not currently display any links in Datarooms.
URL shortcut files can be created using the following combinations of operating systems and browsers:
- Microsoft Windows 10 and Internet Explorer 11
- Microsoft Windows 10 and Google Chrome
- Microsoft Windows 10 and Firefox
- Microsoft Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 11
- Microsoft Windows 7 and Google Chrome
- Microsoft Windows 7 and Firefox
The URL shortcut files can only be uploaded via WebDAV if Brainloop Secure Dataroom is opened in Internet Explorer.
If a URL shortcut file has been created using Internet Explorer and is then uploaded via the web interface and Add Documents, the file name might change during the upload. This depends on the particular webpage and is outside of the control of Brainloop.

- Resolved: API support for improved security code authentication in Brainloop Secure Client
A new API call enables Brainloop Secure Client to support using the Confirm button in the Brainloop Authenticator app.
This API change provides the prerequisite for the desired usability improvement in Brainloop Secure Client. Secure Client will use this new API call in one of the next versions so that Secure Client users can successfully use the Confirm button in the Authenticator app.

- Section sign (§) in file and folder names
If ZIP files are to be uploaded to a Dataroom and some names of compressed folders or files contain the section sign (§), we recommend to create the ZIP file using a program like 7-Zip. The native Windows ZIP tool does not support the section sign in file and folder names.
Background: The section sign (§) can be used as part of file and folder names in Brainloop Secure Dataroom. This applies also when working with WebDAV or when creating and using Dataroom archives.

- Resolved: E-Mail Encryption and Microsoft Outlook 2016
If E-mail Encryption is activated in a Dataroom or if users have activated the option Encrypt all e-mails sent to me with my certificate in the Profile and Settings dialog, the users cannot open such encrypted e-mails in Microsoft Outlook 2016. This is known, and we are working on resolving the issue.
In the meantime, there is a choice between two workarounds:
- Use Microsoft Office 2013 for opening e-mails.
- Deactivate e-mail encryption in the Dataroom and/or for individual users.
Even without e-mail encryption, messages as well as documents are still optimally protected. After deactivating e-mail encryption, users will receive e-mails containing only links to the messages or documents in the Dataroom and no other significant content.
Dataroom Managers can deactivate the E-mail Encryption option under Dataroom Administration > Security > Security Features. Individual users can deactivate the option Encrypt all e-mails sent to me with my certificate in the Profile and Settings dialog under Settings > Preferences.

- Restricted functionality for "Open in Windows" when editing Excel files in Microsoft Excel 2016
When users open a Dataroom folder via View > Open in Windows and then try to edit a Microsoft Excel file in this folder using Microsoft Excel 2016, they currently cannot save their changes back to the Dataroom. This restriction applies only when working with Microsoft Excel 2016. As a workaround, users can open the Excel file via the Edit link in the Details view for this file.
Reference: 83434 - Resolved: Visibility of comments and markups from document collections in individual Brainmark documents
Comments and markups made in a private review of a document collection are now also displayed in the private review of the corresponding individual Brainmark document. However, currently this improvement is only effective in the web interface of Brainloop Secure Dataroom. For the Brainloop Secure Client app, this fix will be implemented in an upcoming version.

Comments and markups made in document collections now stay in their intended position. This improvement is fully effective for users of the web interface of Brainloop Secure Dataroom. Users of the Brainloop Secure Client app partially benefit from this fix, but it will only become fully effective for them with an upcoming version of Brainloop Secure Client.

- To accept new Terms of Use, the relevant Dataroom needs to be opened via the Dataroom Selector.
If a user has added a Dataroom to the Favorites list and a Dataroom Manager changes the Terms of Use for this Dataroom, it is no longer possible to open the Dataroom directly from the Favorites list without first accepting the changed Terms of Use. To do this, the Dataroom must be opened via the Dataroom Selector and the Terms of Use accepted. Once accepted, the Dataroom link in the Favorites list will work as normal.
Reference: 80008 - Resolved: Comments and markups made in a document collection in Brainloop Secure Client are not shown in the individual documents.
If a user adds comments or markups to a downloaded document collection, these comments are not reproduced in the individual documents that the collection has been compiled of and that have also been downloaded in Brainmark format to the device. A new synchronization of the Secure Client app does not change this.

When Brainloop Secure Dataroom is opened in Safari on an iPad Pro, the user interface does not fill the browser window. Instead, there is a blank area to the right and below the interface. This display issue has no impact on the functionality of Brainloop Secure Dataroom.
Reference: 65961 (#145861, #158730) - When editing the Terms of Use by copying content from Microsoft Word, the preview might not show the copied content and the copied content might not be saved.
If a Dataroom Manager uses a browser other than Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge, then copies content from Microsoft Word into the text field for the Terms of Use and clicks the Preview button, this content is not displayed. The copied content can also not be saved by clicking Save. As a workaround, Dataroom Managers can copy and paste the text to a text editor first before copying it again into the Terms of Use field.
